Release early, release often.

I first heard those words come from the founder of Digg, Kevin Rose (luckily our site is a bit more stable than Digg v4). This is something we have been doing since we touched our first table row back in the d-a-y.

When running a site, big or small, you constantly need to track user behavior and feedback in order to improve your site. We do not have all the answers but if you look deep enough you can find many of them.

We use two apps / tools to track our users and make the neccessary changes, Google Analytics for stat tracking and page navigation and Crazy Egg for click heatmaps. Using these two apps we have found out some amazing info, like words such as 'Gorgeous' can be clicked on more than an image and the power of a picture of a person is more than you think.

The Obox site has been going through contstant evolution and recently we pushed out a big update accross the site. I thought it would be cool to share with you some of the changes and the reasons behind them.

At Obox HQ we have quietly been testing some new banner designs for our Affiliate program.

We wanted to see what different colors and different copy does to Click Through Rates (CTR) and Sales.

The banners were designed to catch your readers eye and evoke a click (as opposed to just looking 'pretty'), the results have been narrowed down to two banners which share the same design. They are short, sweet and literally to the point.

July has been an awesome month for Obox Themes and so we would like to end it with a bang.

Today, we are finally able to launch our new OCMX control panel. Every line of code has been rewritten and the look and feel completely changed in order to fit in with the WordPress UI.

After releasing our new membership offer yesterday we got a few enquiries about the matter of benefits vs price.

I answered each person individually explaining how the benefits far outway the price, however one thing in business that you realize is that there are a lot of silent voices.

In response to your comments and feedback I wanted to write a public post about a new price structure (because we listen unlike these guys... for example).

First thing to mention is that our themes will now be $30 for a single pack and $80 for a developers pack. We ran those prices for the last 7 days and the response blew our hair back. So with that in mind we have decided to stick to those offers for the time being :)

Secondly, Membership. Considering all your comments we have gone even more radical and cut our signup fee to only $99! If we do the math it is a saving of roughly $1,200 which is the cost of buying every theme in our collection. Huge.

Existing users will still benefit from our $50 discount when signing up which we think is quite awesome.

Thanks to all of you who voiced your opinions and gave us feedback. We value what you all say and I think this is a clear example of that.

Almost one year after launching Obox Themes we are totally excited to announce our new Membership package!

We believe that we are finally at a place where the benefits of becoming a member out weigh the option of just buying one theme at a time. Things are picking up in the Obox Theme lab, and with the new OCMX system soon to be released, we feel that now is the perfect time to launch this new package.

I am sure there are many of you who would love to purchase a rocking premium Tumblr theme but when it comes time to purchase you are faced with the prospect of having to use a credit card and there is no sign of a PayPal button.

Far from ideal.

Well luckily there is a way around this and it exists in the Tumblr website.

For a while now we have noticed an open goal, so while everyone flocked to Tumblr we saw an opportunity to set ourselves apart from the rest.

Today we are happy to announce that we have done a deal with Posterous to supply them with five themes which they will be including in their theme directory. They will all be free with three of them are already up for grabs.

Even though it's subtle, the benefits are clear: it broadens our reputation as theme developers and gives us a huge increase in brand exposure. Most importantly there will now be slightly more variety in the Posterous theme directory which has been lacking for some time now.

Lately we have really embraced a 'less is more' approach to how we do business, design and also development.

Our approach when coming up with ideas is no longer what we can add but what can we remove. It's taken a long while for us to embrace this mentality, but now that we understand it, we are trying to execute on it as much as possible.

When creating our new site we looked into the easiest way to get you your theme during checkout. We managed to get rid of a step and we were quite happy.

However after analyzing our stats we have realized that we can do more. What if we took to the risk and removed the requirement to register? We have been planning and debating it for almost two weeks and recently decided it's time to take the dive and test it out.
