In preparation for launching our newest photography WordPress theme, we want to be able to showcase some extraordinary talented Photographers within the theme by running a competition.

We've been making some record payouts at Obox which puts us in good stead for achieving our goal of paying out $150'000 in affiliate commission over the next 18 months.

I have been listening to feedback over the past couple of weeks as to how we can make our affiliate offering stronger. As I've mentioned in a previous post, we'll be changing the program to a tiered process so the more sales you make via Obox the more commission you make. That's the first thing which will be happening.

Obox is giving away $150,000! That's right, one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. You'd almost think we were mad.

Over the next 12-18 months, we at Obox are making it our mission to give away $150,000 to you via our affiliate program. If you're already registered as an affiliate then you're already on your way to earning a piece of that extremely large pie. If you're not registered as an affiliate then you should do so now.

Yesterday we sent out a newsletter (you may have got it) and when I woke up this morning and looked in my mail box I got the following message:

I don't know how I got on your mailing list but I'm very happy I am, I think that theme looks GREAT! ~ Rob

Sending out newsletters can be one seriously stressful thing, but getting replies like this is even more surprising!

A few weeks ago Cape Town played host to WordCamp and since Obox is a WP theme company based in South Africa we were invited to talk.

In December we got an email from a certain Collis Ta'eed, the co-founder of Envato. To say we were excited is an understatement, I loved his designed style when I was still learning how to push pixels and often looked to his designs for inspiration.

To cut a long story short the idea was to become an author on their ThemeForest network. It took a bit of consideration but we eventually decided to give it a go. With a 650,000 strong membership it can only benefit our business.

At Obox HQ we have quietly been testing some new banner designs for our Affiliate program.

We wanted to see what different colors and different copy does to Click Through Rates (CTR) and Sales.

The banners were designed to catch your readers eye and evoke a click (as opposed to just looking 'pretty'), the results have been narrowed down to two banners which share the same design. They are short, sweet and literally to the point.

We are big time users of Facebook Fan pages. We consider it just as valuable as our Twitter account and actually dedicate quite a bit of time to it each day to share links and comments.

Overall we think the service rocks however there are a few niggling issues which we hope they sort out sooner rather than later.

We don't usually do this but I recently wrote a guest blog post for Inspired Mag on how to launch a successful start up with no budget.

What I can tell you is that it started with our own CMS called OCMX Live (which we have successfully ported to Wordpress) and culminated in our Wordpress theme company.

We never like standing still for too long at Obox and we love to set challenges and deadlines which are hard to achieve.
