Our most popular WordPress theme has undergone a massive update.
Ever since we released Gigawatt into the wild it has always been a firm favourite in our theme collection. When we added Gigawatt eCommerce (child theme) to our theme collection, it was mighty popular with those of you who were wanting to setup up an online shop.
Over time, we realised that the Gigawatt eCommerce child theme infact needed to be integrated into Gigawatt as a single theme which suited both purposes, as well as streamlining the code for more seamless updating.
So that's where we went, over the past couple of weeks the team has been working on a single Gigawatt which we're proud to release today as Gigawatt 2.0.
As well as making it easier for you to have one single theme, we've also overhauled the theme options panel to keep it inline with our recent updates to some of our other themes.
Within Gigawatt's theme options panel there is now an eCommerce tab where you can manage the eCommerce settings and enable the header cart as you've seen previously in the eCommerce child theme.
The site layout tab gives you the same functionality you had before, you can choose from a blog, preset or widget driven layout.
The changes have not stopped at the Theme Options area, we've also added three different gallery types to the theme, allowing you to display images of your products in a sliding carousel, the default WooCommerce gallery, or a new thumbnail selector.
Existing Gigawatt User?
If you're already using Gigawatt user, we have documentation in our support area which we advise you to read before updating to Gigawatt 2.0.
As usual, it is important to backup any custom work you have done to your theme before updating, this update is a big one, and will replace a bulk of the theme files.
