In the past, Obox had the great opportunity to work with the great guys at Posterous and create some themes for them. We were stoked to have that opportunity.
Over the past few days, Posterous has announced that its entire service will be shutting down since the team joined Twitter.
If you're a Posterous user, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can export your content from Posterous and move it to a brand new WordPress install which would work perfectly with one of our WordPress themes.
How do you move Posterous to WordPress?
It's an extremely simple process and we've broken it down in to steps for you!
1. Choose and purchase your hosting
There are numerous web hosts to choose from and we have created a list of some recommended hosts for you to choose from. We've made sure that the hosting companies we've recommended enable you to get your WordPress site up and running as fast as possible and as simply as possible. They're all very cost effective and competitive.
We currently recommend Bluehost. They are reliable and trustworthy, knowledgeable and helpful as well as innovative and stable.
Most of all though Bluehost works perfectly with our WordPress blogging themes.
2. Install WordPress on Your Hosting
Some of the hosts which we've recommended have an automatic WordPress installation within their control panels, if you look for a button named 'Fantastico' then click the WordPress option on the left hand side. Fill in the details of your website, including the preferred login details and you're all done.
For those hosts which don't have an automatic install, WordPress isn't as complicated as you may be led to believe. It's famous for its quick installation and the WordPress.org website offers a comprehensive 'How To' on installing WordPress for you to follow.
3. Import
In your WordPress dashboard click on tools then Import.

4. Choose Posterous
In the menu which is displayed, click on Posterous. You will need to download a plugin to do this on a fresh WordPress install.
5. Log in and backup
Log in to your Posterous blog, click the "backup" option.

6. Upload the backup file
Upload the backup file which you downloaded to WordPress. On your WordPress dashboard, select the recently downloaded file with your content and click "upload file and import".
7. Let the importer do its work
When the import has finishing you may need to change the formatting of your posts incase some styling from Posterous has affected the way it is viewed on your new website.
8. Install your WordPress theme and get styling!
