Principles, our minimalist blogging theme has undergone some work this week to include some requested features.
The role of Principles has always been to remain minimalistic in both its appearance and feature set so deciding to add features has been analysed and debated a lot within the team - only common feature requests got the nod and even then, if we felt that the feature did not genuinely make the theme better, it never got through.

What's new?
Improved Quote Format
We felt the Quote post format was a bit too simple, so we've added an area to include a cite and a link to the origin of said quote. The design has also been tweaked slightly to accommodate the update.
Tweaked menu design
After the twitter debacle we experienced this week, we wanted to quell any confusion between our theme and the competition.

Retina Ready
Principles is probably the best content first theme out there when it comes to reading on different screen sizes. What was missing though was retina display compatibility - that's now been solved with retina icons and sprites.
Option to Show Footer by Default
We have now provided an option to show the footer by default instead of having the button to view the footer. This allows your footer widgets to be visible at all times as opposed to requiring a user to toggle them on and off.

A Better Home for Your Content
Principles is a better home for your content than anywhere else on the internet. Why? Because you're free to write what you want, when you want but most of all you own all of your content. You are also free to write what you want and when you want to, no editors or time requirements.
With Principles, we provide that home for your content where it is viewable on all devices at any time with an impeccable design. This encourages you to write more and excite your readers.
