When we got Shyama Golden to design Handmade we never anticipated that the design would do so well. In fact we thought it would be one of our longtail products which would generate a bit of sales.
Turns out we were completely wrong, Handmade has been one of the major success stories at Obox Themes. Our top selling theme on Themeforest and our second best selling theme on Obox.
Handmade Two, rewrite
For a while now we've been planning to give Handmade an overhaul and finally we have been able to get this massive task complete. Our aim was not to fundamentally change the design but instead rewrite the code to modern standards and a responsive layout.
There has been a lot of changes both visible and non-visible in the way the theme has been designed and coded.
Handmade Two is now mobile-friendly
This has easily been one of the biggest requests *ever* at Obox and was actually the catalyst to creating version two. In order to achieve a responsive layout a rewrite was necessary but we are now really happy to say that your visitors can now experience your site on any mobile device.
eCommerce is now built in
Handmade Two has Woocommerce compatibility built in as standard. No longer do you need to install a separate child theme.
Making installing and setup easier
We've made installing and setting up Handmade Two even easier. By providing the entire theme in just one-file it makes installing easier and once you've activated the theme there is now a help page displayed so that you can setup the theme with ease. Along with brand new documentation and our dedicated support forum we're on hand to help with anything you need.
Design Changes
You can tell from the screenshots below that we've taken great pride in going over the theme with a fine tooth-comb to take it from good to great.
Typography
Across the entirety of Handmade Two we spent a great deal of time looking at and changing the typography sizes and color to make all of the content easier to read.
Layout
Layouts now promote your content whether that be pictures, video or text. We've re-jigged a lot of the old layout into better looking layouts across the homepage, gallery, blog and eCommerce templates.
Handmade 1.0 Support
Any customer with Handmade 1.0 are able to get a free upgrade to Handmade Two. We will continue to support Handmade 1.0 users for the time being and provide help to those who want to upgrade to Handmade Two.
